Last day in Crete

Today we waked up and I had my fresh orange juice this time and desserts at the balcony.

Then we went for a last walk.

Today we gathered for our last lunch.
Here is a picture of a lovely lunch table.
Pastitsio with cinammon, very common especially in the islands.
It is a Greek and Mediterranean baked pasta dish that contains ground beef and béchamel sauce.
Yummy!

I bought this beautiful flower bouquet in order to give it to the hostess of the house, saying thank you for everything she did for me.

In the afternoon we had our last coffee at the balcony looking one more time the sea and after that we were ready to go back home.

We had an amazing time.
I really enjoyed my stay in Crete.
Cretan  hospitality!
Definitely you must visit this magical island.

Elafonisi

Today we went for the day to Elafonisi.

Elafonisi is an island located close to the southwestern corner of the Mediterranean island of Crete, of which it is administratively a part, in the regional unit of Chania. When the weather is fine it is possible to walk to the island through the shallow water. The island is a protected nature reserve.

From Kalyves to Elafonisi is almost a two hours drive.

It was really beautiful, to be honest Elafonisi reminds me Elafonisos, which is a small Greek island between the Peloponnese and Kythira.

Here are some pictures.

Pink sand.

After spending our entire day to Elafonisi, we went for the afternoon to Stavros.

Stavros is a village and beach in the Akrotiri district of the city of Chania, Crete. The beach and surroundings was the place where in 1964 Michael Cacoyannis partly made the movie Zorba the Greek with Anthony Quinn.

Here are some pictures.

We had a lovely time at Paradisio Baby & Kinder Hotel with family and friends.

Barbecue night under the fool moon!

Chania by night

We started our day at the most beautiful place for coffee with view the deep blue sea, called Katie's Coffee Place in Kalami.

Kalami is a small coastal village just east of Souda, also it is not very far from the larger village of Kalives and it has a couple of small quiet beaches look out over the Bay of Souda. Chania town is at a 10 kilometers distance and Kalives is a five minutes drive away.

Here are some pictures.
Enjoy!

I found an artist!
I asked him, if I could take a picture of him and he said ok.
He was so handsome and I really liked his dressing code.

Later we decided to go for drinks to Chania.
What a wondeful idea to see this beautiful town by night.

Here are some pictures.

Rethymno

Today we waked up and after our breakfast we went for a walk to Kalyves in order to take a few more pictures.
And voila.

In the afternoon we decided to go to Rethymno.

It was originally built during the Minoan civilization but was never a competitive Minoan centre.

The old town is almost entirely built by the Republic of Venice. It is one of the best-preserved old towns in Crete.
The town still maintains its old aristocratic appearance, with its buildings dating from the 16th century, arched doorways, stone staircases, the small Venetian harbour and narrow streets.
Today the city's main income is from tourism, many new facilities having been built in the past 20 years. Agriculture is also notable, especially for olive oil and other Mediterranean products.

Here are some pictures from beautiful Rethymno.

The main entrance of Bellagio Boutique Hotel.

We had dinner at La Boheme Rethymno Crete.

Amazing olive oil soaps.
Of course I had to buy one for my bathroom.
Believe me that smell.
